“The New York Times” : Daily Report: Google and Facebook Wield Buckets in Fake News Flood

as declared in

Google and Facebook have in record time sweated bullets, worked miracles and eliminated all unreliable information from the internet!
AdSense is how many fake news sites (and legitimate ones) make money.
In November, Google said it would ban fake news sites from the advertising network, but it seems as though the ban is a taller order than first thought.
It said it took action against 340 of them, and kicked 200 publishers off Google’s AdSense advertising network altogether.
On Wednesday, Google said it had recently examined 550 sites suspected of deceiving users.

Facebook is testing News Feed-style ads inside Messenger

Facebook will soon show some users News Feed-style carousel ads inside Messenger as part of a new test.
On Wednesday, Facebook announced that it has found a new place: Inside Messenger, its standalone messaging app.
(The company also started selling a new type of vertical video ad inside Instagram earlier this month.)
Facebook already offers one type of Messenger ad: Sponsored messages that a brand can send to a user once they’ve already exchanged messages.
Facebook said last summer that it was running out of places to show users ads in News Feed, its moneymaking machine, meaning it would need to sell ads elsewhere to keep growing.
