NEW DELHI: Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has sought details of the process of payments made for social media campaigns for various central schemes and the expenditure involved.
“For any social media campaign, payments have to be made through credit cards…Which department, government-run agencies or private agencies’ credit cards and credit limits were used for making payments for social media campaign for Centre’s schemes,” Sisodia asked.
He has written to PM Narendra Modi ‘s principal secretary Nripendra Misra , listing specific schemes.In his letter, Sisodia has referred to social media campaigns for “Make in India”, “Narendra Modi app”, “Startup India” and ” Digital India “.
He also wanted to know whether a bidding process was adopted by the Centre for advertising the schemes on Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
The AAP government had refuted the allegations saying that no consultant was hired, especially for it.

Denying the CBI’s claims, officials said the company was hired after issuing tenders as no government arm was equipped to deal with a social media campaign.
These included information about the departments of the central government that were engaged in social media campaign of the four schemes, if any government or private advertisement/event management companies were engaged, and if any bidding mechanism was adopted for issuing advertisements on social media.
Sisodia asked Misra to provide the information with the necessary documents.

The agency charged him on the basis of an alleged violation of extent rules and regulation in the campaign on social media, which was live-streamed on Google, Facebook and YouTube.
