Samsung adds UFC live battles and battles to Gear VR

The company says: “The VR Live Pass on Gear VR events will be available through the Samsung VR app in early June, enabling Gear VR users to watch live entertainment events and performances no matter where they are.”
Gear VR users will be able to access this content at no cost.
Initial partners for the free-for-now content include UFC and ESPN’s X Games.
Samsung recently updated its Gear VR headset, launching a new version alongside the Galaxy S8 phone.

according to Finally, the Gear VR pass will cover a live music concert with a yet-to-be-announced artist in August.

Samsung will then shift to the X Games in Minneapolis for some live BMX and skateboard coverage starting on July 13th.
The featherweight bout will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 3rd, and mark the first time a UFC fight has been live-streamed in VR.
The first broadcast will be a UFC clash between José Aldo and Max Holloway.

“We’ve always felt that the potential of combining UFC events with virtual reality would give our fans the ultimate enhanced experience,” UFC Chief Operating Officer Ike Lawrence Epstein said.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has partnered with Samsung to bring live mixed martial arts (MMA) action to virtual reality headsets, by way of VR Live Pass on Gear VR, beginning with this weekend’s UFC 212 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Brazil.
UFC 212 will be headlined by the title unification bout pitting featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo against interim champion Max Holloway.
“We’re excited to partner with Samsung on this game-changing initiative to further revolutionize how fight fans consume our content and live events around the world.”The action gets underway this Saturday night (June 3, 2017) in Rio.
