UTube’s music head affirms collection of UTube Red and Google Play Music

according to

UTube’s music head speaks at the New Music SeminarAccording to The Verge, Lyor Cohen, YouTube’s head of music stated the combination of the two services during the New Music Seminar.
It could be recalled that Google merged their Play Music and YouTube teams in February to enhance productivity.
The Play Music suits the standard idea of a music app that can play local files and create playlists with smart AI that can suggest tracks by time and other factors.
It was gathered that Cohen pointedly said that the essential thing is to have YouTube Red and Google Play Music work as one to offer a better service – this was following the questions why YouTube Red is going down in popularity.
That gave an insight that Google was gearing efforts towards launching a single music service that would make their offering simpler.

YouTube Red

According to the YouTube Red website, a Red subscription includes a free subscription to Google Play Music.
And existing Google Play Music subscribers also receive a free YouTube Red membership.
But Google also operates a standalone YouTube Music app that focuses on music videos.
Google Play Music and YouTube Red will be merged to create a new streaming service, according to a report from The Verge, which Google then essentially confirmed with a statement indicating that changes are not taking place immediately.
Nothing will change for users today and we’ll provide plenty of notice before any changes are made.”Of course, YouTube Red and Google Play Music today are already tied together.

Google Play Music

“The first and most important thing is combining YouTube Red and Google Play Music and having one offering,” Cohen said.
The search giant is exploring a new streaming offering that would merge its Google Play Music and YouTube Red service that lets people stream both videos and songs, according to several media reports .
As Billboard magazine notes , citing an anonymous source, YouTube Red and Google Play Music have nearly 7 million subscribers combined, which lags Spotify’s 50 million paid subscribers and Apple Music’s ( aapl ) 27 million subscribers.
Currently, subscribers to YouTube Red, which costs $10 a month, also receive a free subscription to Google Play Music, which also costs $10 a month—and vice versa.
At a music business conference in New York City, YouTube’s global head of music, Lyor Cohen, said that Google ( goog ) should combine Google Play Music with YouTube Red to make it easier for people who are confused about the two different services, according to news site The Verge .
