A Christian person in Lahore has been sentenced to dying for blasphemy after he sent a Muslim friend a poem on whatsapp apps which insulted Islam, a lawyer told Friday.
The accused “was handed a dying sentence with the court of law on Thursday on blasphemy charges,” defence lawyer Anjum Wakeel told AFP, alleging which his client was been framed with Bashir.
Earlier this year, a mob in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan win up a student, Mashal Khan, to dying after accusing him of blasphemy over social media.
The probe into Mashal’s murder was concluded after a joint probe team exploring the status cleared him of all blasphemy charges.
Pakistan is cracking drop versus blasphemy related crimes on media with previous interior minister Chaudhry Nisar threatening to ban all media websites with ‘blasphemous content’ earlier this year.
